Today I sit in a motel room in El Centro, CA. The outside temp is 102 and I have another 2 weeks of this. This brings back all the past feelings of working in Tucson for so many years outside in this kind of heat and I don't like this at all. But if I know anything it's that if you don't like something, in order for it to change you have to do something about it. I won't do anything about this; yet. I still need the results of this sacrifice too much.
Today, I was burnt again by not following through with what I thought was an insignificant incident at work. I guy calls and says he twisted his ankle but will continue working since it didn't amount to much. After 2 weeks it is amounting to much. He calls the office and is going to go have it examined. Is it coincidence that he has been off work last week and is not working this week and may think that a little workers comp may be in order? Just a thought - don't know. I just can't help think that trusting people to do the right thing just never works out. The right thing being to realize this ankle will get better by itself just as all the other twists have in your life and simply get on with it without trying to get something for nothing. Sometimes I am just so frustrated with how the work environment has gotten so "politically correct" in that no one is to put themselves out beyond any comfortable effort. It's called "work" for a reason. Getting hurt on the job is one thing, taking advantage of the system for personal gain is something totally different.
